The AATREC-FM204 4WD Camper

(updated 6/15/2009)

RUF, Inc. is sorry to report that we have ceased manufacturing the FM-based AATREC campers.  New US emissions laws and the required exhaust components interfere with the 4WD conversion process, and eliminate underbody storage.  In addition to that, all 2007 and later chassis require ultra-low sulfur diesel, rendering them unable to be fueled in many countries.  We're currently working on a cab-over-engine solution to this problem.

The chassis below was used to build our fifth custom camper (the vehicle in the image above).  This is how it looks prior to mounting the body...

This is the hybrid steel/composite shelter, pre-windows and door.  It is rubber-bushed and torsionally isolated from the chassis.  The floor is steel tube, while everything above it is composite pultruded foam-core panel.  This gives the structure a solid mounting to the chassis, a light weight with low center of gravity, and absolutely no cold-bridges anywhere.
